REPORTS TO: Facilities & Environmental Services Manager
COMPENSATION: $22.07 hourly
BENEFITS: Full time SAM employees are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance/LTD/AD&D. Employees are also eligible to enroll in our company’s 403b retirement plan, for which SAM offers a guaranteed 3% employer contribution. Employees will also receive 10 days of sick leave and 10 days of vacation leave every year, 12 paid holidays and 1 floating holiday throughout the calendar year. Additional benefits include subsidized transportation (ORCA card), free access to a fitness facility, and both a SAM museum membership and an AAM Tier III membership.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
As a full-time Lead Event Support & Environmental Services Technician at SAM, you'll be the guardian of our museum's pristine appearances! Your meticulous eye for detail, combined with your can-do attitude, will make you an invaluable asset to our team. You'll have the opportunity to showcase your cleaning prowess and contribute to the magical ambiance that allows art to truly shine. This includes all areas of the museum, including galleries, hallways, inside/outside public spaces, meeting rooms, offices, and storage areas (as assigned) while maintaining the museum in a safe, clean, and attractive condition.
Work is performed both independently and in teams in accordance with facility standards and procedures. Event Support staff assist with the smooth and safe running of events at the Seattle Art Museum. They may perform roles such as event furniture setup and teardown, restroom and floor care maintenance before, during, and after the event, portering, manual work, and other general duties as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work areas are primarily inside, in a climate-controlled environment with light background noise. Work is occasionally performed at other indoor and outdoor sites. Position involves working with hazardous chemicals and cleaning agents.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES REQUIRED FOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Stationary Work: Approximately 95% of time is spent standing or moving around the work area. Balance of time (approximately 5%) is spent seated while working at a desk. Occasional extended periods of standing may be required when assisting at Museum events.
Communication: Clear and effective verbal and written communication in English with volunteers, donors, members, the public, and co-workers is necessary.
Moving: The ability to move up to thirty pounds on occasion is necessary for moving files, equipment, and supplies. Must be able to regularly position self to access files.
Office Work: Ability to effectively and regularly operate a computer, keyboard, and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machines and printers, and ability to inspect, prepare and use paperwork, files, equipment, and supplies is necessary.
